I grew and photographed this flower a couple years ago. It is an epiphyllum. It only blooms once a year for a few hours. It is bigger than my hand.
As soon as I went back inside to look at the photos I'd captured, I knew this one had meaning. I thought about it for months, but the meaning only occurred to me last year - that we are reflectors of God's light amidst a dark world. This photo is us. 🙏
"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16
