🇵🇪 PERU — Protesters arrive to 'take the capital' in Lima exacerbate tensions in Peru
Protesters originating mainly from three regions of southern Peru arrived in the capital, Lima, where they intend to protest against President Dina Boluarte and the Peruvian Congress. The activists – made up of indigenous groups and trade unionists – called the demonstration “Dethrone of Lima”.
Amidst the tension, security forces were placed on high alert, and Boluarte urged that the protests not degenerate into acts of violence and vandalism.
