🗓 20 years ago, the U.S. debuted its invasion of Iraq

On this day in 2003, the U.S. government invaded Iraq. It was an illegal invasion under international law (a veto was pending at the UNSC), which killed over a million Iraqis, according to different surveys.

📹 Video of the “shock and awe” bombardment of Baghdad (night of 19-20 March 2003), according to President George W. Bush's words. It was a preliminary to the ground invasion. The U.S. destroyed all government and civilian infrastructure, such as Baghdad's Al-Dora oil refinery. The electricity was then cut.
