Two US veterans released by Russian separatists land in NYC

Alex Drueke and Andy Huynh disappeared 3 months ago in the Kharkiv region in eastern Ukraine. They were fighting alongside Ukrainian soldiers against invading Russian forces.

They were released to the US embassy in Saudi Arabia before flying to JFK International AIrport.

“We’re looking forward to spending time with family and we’ll be in touch with the media soon,” Drueke told the AP after arriving at the airport with Huynh. “Happy to be home.”

They were released as part of an exchange negotiated by Saudi Arabia which included eight other prisoners from Morocco, the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Croatia.
