Adopting the cloud: does developing all application components inside SQL Server still make sense?
As a pre-historic pre-cloud DBA you have probably used and preferred to develop any application data component inside SQL Server – OLTP and analytical data sets, messaging service, managing configurations and application state data, loading and processing data files. 10 years ago monolith data architecture used to be common as well as fault and disaster tolerant. Is it still correct to continue developing and supporting such monoliths these days?
