🇮🇱🇵🇸 The press service of the Israel Defense Forces has reported that yesterday, 21 reservists were killed in an explosion in Al-Maghazi in the central part of the Gaza Strip. The fighters were mining the building for later demolition when a Hamas militant opened fire with an RPG on a tank providing infantry cover.

Different versions of the incident have emerged. According to one, the detonation of the charges placed in the house was caused by a repeated shot from an RPG. According to another version, it was caused by the activation of the Trophy active protection complex, with its shrapnel touching the explosives.

This is the second recent incident of IDF fighters losing their lives due to the abnormal activation of explosive charges in the Gaza Strip. It appears that the Palestinians were able to infiltrate behind the Israelis using an underground network of passages, which has partially survived despite regular bombings and tunnel explosions.

The incident marks the largest single loss for the IDF since the start of the ground operation in the enclave, which has understandably stirred reaction in Israeli society.
