Today, back in 1942 - April 18 marked the significant moment of the"Doolittle Raid" when following the Pearl Harbour attack in December 1941, 16 USAF B-25 Mitchells took off from USS Hornet's deck and flew to Tokyo Bay and Tokyo city bombed the entire city & then flew to Free China, most of the pilots didn't make it some were captured, this was the first time Japan was bombed...a small raid but it was big blow to the Japanese moral and a boost to American forces in the Pacific!

79 years ago on the intervening night of April 18th & April 19th, the Last & Final assault on a large entrenched defensive position of the Second War took place, by the evening of April 18th the 1st Belorussian front managed to break the 3rd & last defence line of Berlin.
By late night of April 18th, the German 9th Army consisting of 110,000 troops was decimated, and Hitler was informed of his impending doom - Himmler & Göring had then made up their minds to betray Hitler and turn to the Western Forces of the US, France & UK
