Biden Administration to Extend COVID-19 Emergency Declaration Once Again
🇺🇸@COVID19Up: The Biden administration is expected to extend the COVID-19 public health emergency once again, ensuring that federal measures expanding access to authorized vaccines and treatments remain in place beyond the midterm elections, three people with knowledge of the matter told POLITICO on Saturday (August 6).
The planned renewal follows extensive deliberations among Biden officials over the future of the emergency declaration, including some who questioned whether it was time to let the designation lapse.
Under the proposed extension, the Department of Health and Human Services would continue the declaration beyond the November elections and potentially into early 2023—pushing the U.S. into its fourth calendar year under a COVID-19 public health emergency.
An HHS spokesperson declined to comment, and the people with knowledge of the matter cautioned the situation could still change ahead of an August 15 deadline for deciding whether to let the declaration continue.
“COVID is not over. The pandemic is not over,” one senior Biden official said. “It doesn’t make sense to lift this [declaration] given what we’re seeing on the ground in terms of cases.”

If the vaccines work, why aren't they working?
The media keeps telling us that getting boosted saves our lives (and the lives of others, LOL!). However, these data from Australia present a different picture. The evidence is overwhelming that boosted people are at a higher risk of dying. In addition, I need to keep on mentioning that one is considered "vaccinated" two weeks after receiving a dose. This indicates that many deaths in the unvaccinated group actually don't belong there.
By the way, age-adjusted mortality data from the UK and other countries leave a similar impression.

We can only speculate the reason so many people have been reading it. Biden Finally Tests Negative for SARS-CoV-2 Again, Will Continue Isolating Until He's Negative for Two Days in a Row
🇺🇸@COVID19Up: President Biden finally tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 again on Saturday (August 6) but will continue to isolate at the White House until a second negative test, his doctor announced.
Dr. Kevin O’Connor wrote in his latest daily update that the president “in an abundance of caution,” will abide by the “strict isolation measures” in place since his “rebound” infection was detected on July 30, pending a follow-up negative result.
Biden, 79, came down with COVID-19 a second time three days after he had emerged from isolation from his initial bout, reported on July 21.
Biden’s travel has been on hold as he awaited a negative test. He plans to visit Kentucky on Monday (August 8) to view damage from catastrophic flooding and meet with families.
O’Connor added that the president “continues to feel very well."

WHO's Dr. Soumya Swaminathan Says We Should Expect COVID-19 Surge Cycles Every 4 to 6 Months
🇺🇳@COVID19Up: Many experts are now saying COVID-19 will not be as severe anymore, and almost everyone agrees that while there will be more SARS-CoV-2 infections, the symptoms will be mild.
However, concerns surrounding COVID-19 are apparently far from over, according to the WHO.
The WHO's chief scientists, Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, told Financial Express what they should believe: “From what we know about this virus, we can expect SARS-Cov2 to continue to mutate and evolve—to be successful, each new variant will either have to be more transmissible, more immune evasive or both. It is also clear that our immune responses wane over a period of time (especially the neutralizing antibodies in blood).”
Hence, she warned, “it is possible to see repeated waves or surges of infection every 4 to 6 months, as we are seeing with BA.4 and BA.5 in USA many parts of the world.”
However, what worries Dr. Swaminathan more is that several “countries have reduced testing and genetic sequencing. Despite that, over 6.3 million weekly cases and over 12,000 deaths have been reported to WHO over the past several weeks, indicating that viral transmission is still active globally. It is clear that the pandemic toll is still very high and that we will have to stay on alert for the foreseeable future. The reassuring thing is that existing vaccines continue to provide protection against severe disease and death and that after a third dose, this protection appears to last.”
Therefore, she claimed that “with high vaccination coverage (including boosters especially in high-risk groups), the health impact of future surges can be minimized.”

Japanese Surgeon Calls for Suspension of COVID Boosters
"In a letter to the peer-reviewed journal Virology, a Japanese cardiovascular surgeon, Dr. Kenji Yamamoto, has called for the discontinuation of COVID-19 booster shots. 'As a safety measure, further booster vaccinations should be discontinued,' Yamamoto wrote. Among his urgent concerns are the fact that the COVID-19 vaccines have been linked to vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia, which, in some cases, has been lethal to patients.
Yamamoto works at Okamura Memorial Hospital in Shizuoka, Japan. In the letter he explains that he and his colleagues have 'encountered cases of infections that are difficult to control,' including some that occurred after open-heart surgery and were still not under control after several weeks of treatment with multiple antibiotics.
These patients, says Yamamoto, showed signs of being immunocompromised, and some of them died…"

Tess Talks with Adrian Price: The Dark Side of Academia

Adrian Price is a software engineer and member of the Hardwick Alliance for Real Ecology (HARE).
He is also the copy editor and proof-reader for an important new book called The Dark Side of Academia: How Truth is Suppressed. The book’s author has chosen to remain anonymous as its contents are controversial enough to compromise her own tenure as an academic. Thus she is known to us as The Secret Professor.
In this conversation, Adrian and I spoke about the book and its challenging message: that higher education institutions are severely compromised, teach a very narrow, shallow and materialistic view of science, and serve primarily to further the interests and ideologies of private and corporate funders.
This is an important discussion, in particular for anyone under the illusion that universities uphold the pursuit of knowledge, critical thought and new ideas.
