Folks, I am a Christian. I know Jesus Christ gave His life for my sins and that nothing I ever do is worthy of the grace God has given me.

I also know that we live in a corrupted world and the church is not above that. That is shown in the Bible even with Jesus Christ alive! Look at the Pharisees and Saducees!

I’ve been to several churches throughout my life an experienced a lot. One of my churches had a confessed pedophile youth pastor (his own convictions got the best of him) and when he called deacon’s meeting to formally announce his resignation to the pastor, one of the deacons, a county judge, told him to deny it all at the meeting. The judge didn’t want his church’s reputation ruined. Subsequently, the pastor resigned because he knew what the meeting was meant to be and that the judge covered up for the youth pastor. Then, the church gave the youth pastor the full role of leading the church!

Others have had bad things happen and the constant arguing by members over what dinner to have this day or that, what new carpet to get, when to hold AWANA, etc etc, to the point that gossip begins and people just talk bad about each other, treating each other terribly became too much!And then, the boasting by many of those who are able to go on missions! This is in direct contradiction to God’s word!

Matthew 6:1-2 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of people in order to be noticed by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So whenever you give to the poor, don’t blow a trumpet before you like the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets so that they will be praised by people. I tell all of you with certainty, they have their full reward!”

For all these and other reasons, I do not go to church. I choose to talk to God in my time. I choose to read in my Bible in my own way and time. I choose to worship the ways that feel most natural to me and that do not lead me into places that, in my experience, are filled with hypocritical, backstabbing, greedy, and sometimes criminal leadership.
