🔹Eight social media influencers with 1.5 million combined followers allegedly used their online fame to artificially inflate the value of stocks only to sell it at a profit while leaving unwitting retail investors holding the bag, the federal government alleges.
🔹The SEC alleged that the influencers used Twitter and Discord to manipulate the price of stocks in what amounted to a $100 million “pump-and-dump” scheme.

🔹Knight is alleged to have played a part in the scheme by co-hosting a podcast in which he promoted several of the social media personalities as expert stock traders. Knight allegedly “provided them with a forum for their manipulative statements,” also “traded in concert with the other defendants and regularly generated profits from the manipulation,” according to the SEC.
