๐Ÿšจ ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฒ ~ Azerbaijan x Armenia war may not be over yet.

"Armenia โ€” Outside the old Meghri train station in southern Armenia, a rusting locomotive, emblazoned with a fading emblem of the Soviet Union, sits on the tracks, as if still waiting for the passengers who stopped coming long ago.

The stationโ€™s overgrown courtyard and dilapidated waiting rooms were once filled with Armenians, Azerbaijanis and visitors from across the Soviet Union, traveling between Baku and Yerevan, or Moscow and Tehran. A modest cafeteria sold tea and snacks, and in summer, fruit sellers on the platform hawked persimmons and pomegranates, grown locally in the orchards that hug the valley.

Meghri sits at a strategic crossroads that regional powers, including Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey and Russia, are competing to access โ€” prompting fears it could soon be at the center of a new war."

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ ~ Pakistan and China finally signed a much-delayed key deal to construct a multibillion-dollar railway project in Pakistan under CPEC.

Mainline-1, or ML-1, railway project. It is designed to connect Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar to the southern port city of Karachi through a more than 2,600-kilometer track with a price tag of $7 billion. With Islamabad and Beijing sharing the cost, the project is expected to take 6 years and increase the line capacity from 34 to 134 trains each way per day, moving up to 165 kilometers per hour โ€” twice as fast as they currently run.

This project connects Xinjiang with Gwadar port and will unlock the access of Xinjiang to the warm waters to give it access to markets of the Middle East and Europe while also boosting Pakistanโ€™s export. China has built and operationalized the deep-water southwestern Gwadar port on the Arabian Sea under CPEC investments. It is located near the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial oil shipping route in the Arabian Sea.
๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ›ข๏ธ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ ~ Pakistani, Chinese firms sign MoU for $1.5 billion investment in petroleum sector.

โ€œPetrol and high-speed diesel obtained from the refinery will not only replace expensive imported fuel, but the refineryโ€™s petrol production capacity would increase from 250,000 metric tons to 1.6 million metric tons,โ€ statement said. It added the agreement would also help to increase high speed dieselโ€™s production capacity from 0.6 million metric tons to 2 million metric tons.

Pakistan lacks adequate resources to run its oil- and gas-powered plants and energy imports make up the majority of the countryโ€™s external payments as it faces an economic crisis with an acute balance of payments problem.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐ ~ Pakistan's former prime minister Nawaz Sharif returned to the country on Saturday, after four years of self-imposed exile in London, to restart his political journey ahead of the general elections.

Sharif's return comes as the country struggles with high inflation and other deep-seated issues. The economic crisis has intensified since his brother Shehbaz Sharif took power 16 months ago.

Sharif was ousted in 2017, during his third stint as the prime minister of Pakistan and in 2018 was sentenced to a  seven-year prison term on multiple charges of corruption. In 2019, he was released on bail due to his health problems and allowed to seek out treatment.

Earlier this week, Sharif was granted a protective bail which barred his arrest and hence allowing him to come back from self-exile.

It is believed that Nawaz Sharif made a deal with Pakistanโ€™s army establishment 2 years ago and played a vital role in his rivalโ€™s Imran Khanโ€™s ouster.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ˜ท๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ - England says its Cricket team players are struggling to breathe due to the air pollution in India.

Central Delhi, where England played their third match against Afghanistan on 15 October, regularly has an AQI above 300 โ€“ a level rated as โ€œhazardousโ€ by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

"It felt like quite a hazy day, wasnโ€™t it? And you could definitely see that from one side of the ground looking back towards the sun, it was a lot harder visually as well than it was on the other side of the ground. Whether it was air quality or what, it was definitely an experience Iโ€™ve not had before." - says England cricket team captain Joe Root.
