Fun facts on the Irish Civil War: This war is often depicted as that of brother against brother (which in some situation did pertain) and that the IRA was split right down the middle between regulars and irregulars, like in that bullshit film 'Michael Collins'.…
Towards the end of this war in May 1923, the Free State Army (calling themselves the National Army or Regulars) had 58,000 men whose armaments, equipment, ammunition and uniforms were supplied by and paid for by the British. Of this number, only 3,000 had any kind of IRA background. 30,000 plus were ex-British Army soldiers or more than half and another 25,000 were recruits who had no previous military experience - in short the so-called National Army was an army of mercenaries armed, trained and financed by the British - hence the bitterness.

The Irish Civil War had ended on 24 May 1923, a month after Frank Aiken (who took over as IRA Chief of Staff after the death of Liam Lynch) gave the order to ceasefire and an arms dumped followed. However, the Free State had a massive issue.

As from the above posts - you will note that the National Army (Free State) comprised 7,000 men at the outbreak of the Civil War in June 1922. These came mainly from pro-Treaty IRA brigades, especially the Dublin Guard, whose members had personal ties to Michael Collins. They faced around 15,000 anti-Treaty IRA men.

The Free State thus had an issue and needed more men and began a recruiting campaign.

By the Civil War's end in May 1923, the army's size mushroomed to 55,000 men, many of whom were Irishmen with combat experience in World War I (W. R. E. Murphy, Emmet Dalton etc)
After the death of Michael Collins in August 1922, Liam Tobin formed the Irish Republican Army Organisation (IRAO), which took the Dublin Guard (loyal to Collins) & other Irish Army officers who shared his view that "higher command...was not sufficiently patriotic" - i.e. doubts these men had in those now taking over the Free State now that Collins was out of the picture

As the Civil War ended, Richard Mulcahy (President of the IRB after Collins death in 1922, IRB abolished soon after in 1924) & those remaining in the IRB who backed the Treaty via Collin's order (as he was President of the IRB) were also dissatisfied with the current state of things

W. T. Cosgrave, head of the government attempted to appease the IRAO. He met with them several times before the September 1923 Election & persuaded the opposing IRB faction of generals under Richard Mulcahy to keep quiet on their discontent - believing it would destabilize the Free State just months after the Civil War and give legitimacy to the Anti-Treaty side

With the election over, Mulcahy now ignored the IRAO as he started the process of demobilising 37,000 of the 55-58,000 men that the Free State recruited during the Civil War

In response to this in Nov 1923, 60 Officers mutinied & were dismissed without pay. The IRAO now pressured the Government into establishing a Committee to supervise future demobilisation. The Committee, consisting of Eoin MacNeill, Ernest Blythe, and IRAO sympathiser Joseph McGrath, effectively undermined the authority of the Army Council of the Free State.

On 7 March 1924 a representative of the IRAO handed a demand to end demobilisation to W. T. Cosgrave. The ultimatum was signed by senior Army officers, Major-General Liam Tobin and Colonel Charles Dalton (brother of Emmet). Tobin knew his own position was to be scrapped in the demobilisation.

That morning 35 men of the 36th Infantry Battalion had refused to parade and the preceding week officers had absconded with arms from Templemore, Gormanstown, Baldonnel Aerodrome and Roscommon.

The immediate response was an order for the arrest of the two men on a charge of mutiny; this caused alarm throughout Dublin when announced.

Labour Party Leader Thomas Johnson supported the governments actions and Richard Mulcahy (head of Army) issued a statement condemning the Mutiny.

Mulcahy ordered for the home of Minister for Industry and Commerce, Joseph McGrath, to be searched due to his sympathies to the IRAO.

McGrath then resigned because of dissatisfaction with the government's attitude to the IRAO officers and support for their perception that the Irish Army treated former British officers better than former IRA officers.

McGrath's resignation will come in later as his absence marked where Cumann na nGaedheal would work to abandon Griffith's economic program - as McGrath was one of the main promoters.
Fun facts on Joseph McGrath:

In a strongly worded letter, written in red ink, McGrath warned Collins not to take his last, ill-fated trip to Cork

After his resignation in March 1924 over the Army Mutiny controversy, he became labour adviser to Siemens-Schuckert, German contractors for the Ardnacrusha hydro-electric scheme on the Shannon.

McGrath founded the Irish Hospitals' Sweepstake in 1930, and the success of its sweepstakes made him an extremely wealthy man - went over Sweepstakes before. Liam Tobin mentioned above also helped set up the Sweepstakes.

He had other extensive and successful business interests always investing in Ireland and became Ireland's best-known racehorse owner and breeder, winning The Derby with Arctic Prince in 1951.

Black Hoteps are now “WE WUZ the real Irish and Scottish Jacobites”

His reasoning seems to be that they are “Jacobites” I.e - “Jacob” and the true Jews (black Israelites) are the people of Jacob

Henceforth the True Jacobites are Black
