Reth Sam and his mother last saw one another in the Khao-I-Dang refugee camp over 40 years ago. After being separated at the camp, both believed the other had perished, but one day Reth happened to be watching a video on YouTube and realized the video was in fact about his aunt and his family. He ended up contacting the channel that put out the video and eventually was able to get in contact with his mother through the power of social media and the kind people who had helped him gather information along the way. Within just four hours of him watching that very first YouTube video, he was able to make contact with his mother for the first time in over 40 years!

Turns out, they were both living in the US and were able to reunite in San Jose. Here is a photo of their reunion, and another of their very first call.
