Debunked: No, support for asylum seekers does not remain strong in Ireland.

According to IHREC Chief Commissioner Sinéad Gibney, polling related to immigration which her organisation conducted last December implied that support for migrants and asylum seekers remained strong in Ireland. She described her findings as "reassuring".

However other polls suggest she had misinterpreted bad data or the sample was not representative of the public.

When asked direct questioning this month, 56% of the public thought Ireland had taken in too many refugees (never mind asylum seekers) while only 30% thought Ireland should take more according to a Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks poll.

Likewise a Red C poll in 2020 found a majority 53% of the public did not want Ireland to take in any more refugees while only 35% did.

The Journal missed this fact-check so I did it up.

Fair play to Albert for managing to make céad míle fáilte sound menacing. I hadn't heard that being done before.

Compare the poster for an actual people's march vs the leftist "Ireland for all" march.

The latter is so astroturfed they can barely make room for all the "NGO" and establishment party logos on the poster.

An open-borders supporter drove a Nissan X-Trail into an East Wall protester tonight.

It's believed the driver's name is Stephen Bedford from Coolock who has been seen driving around with a sound system on his roof playing 'racists out' on a loop. Earlier today he had described protesters as "dangerous" but that he "knew how to deal with them".

Bedford is facebook friends with Mark Malone and Dean Scurry who is an organiser of the 'Ireland For All' rally taking place this Saturday. He follows TD Paul Murphy and numerous NGOs including Fingal Against Racism.

Bedford posted his recording of the attack on his facebook page which is still up. The video has been re-posted by the Ireland Against Fascism page who remarked:

"It's something we all would do. It's like Death Race 2023 but without the blood, gore and death. Fair play to this person".

Paul Murphy has dismissed the attack as a driver making a "clever (but illegal) move to get where he/she was going".

An eye witness account of the attack at the Five Lamps junction in Dublin at around 7.30pm yesterday:

"It was like something you'd see in a horror movie...he kept driving and driving and driving."

"I ran straight to Simon and he was on the ground. He was in an awful way. The picture was exactly the way he was until the ambulance took him away. He was curled up. He couldn't move. He could barely talk."

Gavin Pepper said that three minutes earlier the victim Simon had directed Gavin's wife and baby away from the location of the attack as he feared for their well-being after spotting the driver, an open borders activist, who was known to protesters for antagonising them.
