A sombre yet touching service which reminded us of the heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
Afterwards we laid a token of our respect at the foot of a monument dedicated to the memory of our fallen kin.

A story of a horrific beating of a white boy by a gang of ten youths described as ‘Asian’ was reported earlier this week on Staffordshire live. His family say the attack was totally unprovoked as he was just walking home.
The attack on Harvey Pickering aged 16 took place outside St Peter's Academy, his school. The attack on Harvey was filmed by the gang who after the vicious attack ran off after leaving Harvey beaten and bleeding on the ground.
He suffered a broken nose, chipped teeth, and a broken jaw.
This story was overlooked by pretty much all local media, who if the boy had been non-white and the attackers had been white would have given this blanket coverage. It’s a depressing fact that attacks on white people just don’t appear news worthy.

Reported in the Birmingham Mail, two people have been arrested after police launched a crackdown on unlicensed shisha lounges operating in the city.
Yesterday, The Mail reported a pair of lounges in the Digbeth area were closed down over concerns armed gangs were attending.
Today, December 21, an update was issued. Small Heath and Highgate Police wrote on Twitter: "Officers have made two arrests at the Kasablanca lounge in Birmingham having found persons on the premises in breach of their court order. Patrols are continuing in the area."
Insp Gary Everitt, responsible for neighbourhood management in the area, said yesterday: “Any social club, or similar establishment that requires a licence to operate, must do so. Just as importantly, those running these venues need to ensure that their activities and the people they attract don’t disrupt the lives of those living in the surrounding area.

A Black country hotel has been selected by the government as a potential place to house asylum seekers.
The hotel is located in the Dudley North Area which is overseen by MP Marco Longhi.
The MP has stated that he will fight “tooth and nail” to stop asylum seekers being placed in the Black Country hotel.
The MP went on to state that his ward was already suffering from multiple issues ranging from anti-social behaviour to burglary and fly tipping.
This event comes after Prime minister Rishi Sunak pledged to end the system of putting migrants in hotels.

Those who watched as the woman was arrested, after admitting she was "praying in my head" were appalled. Some claimed this was proof that Great Britain had become a dystopia.

Cody was stabbed on the dance floor of the Crane nightclub in Digbeth, and the venue has since had its licence suspended.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Ingram, leading the investigation, on Thursday repeated his plea for anyone with information to contact police.
He said: 'We now have seven people in custody and continue to build a picture of the events that led to the tragic loss of this young man.
