Developers who own ex-Greenbelt land also benefited from province's order to expand Hamilton urban boundary

Two Hamilton developers who successfully influenced the Ford government to remove their land from the Greenbelt simultaneously benefited from a provincial order to expand the city's urban boundary.

The same day in 2022 the province announced its plans to remove three Hamilton sites from the Greenbelt, it also opened up an additional 2,200 hectares of local countryside for development.

The move came one year after Hamilton council voted not to expand its boundary and has since prompted one councillor to say Premier Doug Ford is allowing a "tsunami" of development on rural land, instead of the "small" waves the city once envisioned.

Canada Post breaking law by gathering info from envelopes, parcels: watchdog

The federal privacy watchdog says Canada Post is breaking the law by gleaning information from the outsides of envelopes and packages to help build marketing lists that it rents to businesses.

The office of privacy commissioner Philippe Dufresne says information collected for the marketing program includes data about where individuals live and what type of online shopping they do, based on who sends them packages.

The commissioner found Canada Post had not obtained authorization from individuals to indirectly collect such personal information.

In a report on his office's investigation, Dufresne says this amounts to a violation of section 5 of the Privacy Act.

๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆTrudeau speaks out against 1 Million March 4 Children

The LGBT-supporting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to X (Twitter) to condemn the 1 Million March 4 Children that took place across Canada on Wednesday.

"Let me make one thing very clear: Transphobia, homophobia, and biphobia have no place in this country. We strongly condemn this hate and its manifestations, and we stand united in support of 2SLGBTQI+ Canadians across the country โ€“ you are valid and you are valued," Trudeau wrote.

While some X users agreed with Trudeau, expressing gratitude, many openly mocked him in replies. Here's the top list (admin's pick)

๐Ÿ”น"What is 2SLGBTQI+?"

๐Ÿ”น"Resign."

๐Ÿ”น"Translation of Justin Trudeau's post... Let me make one thing very clear: the Liberal Party supports radical gender activists. We are against parental rights and the protection of children in schools. We strongly condemn parents who march to protect their kids as hateful bigots."

๐Ÿ  Feds tell people struggling to find housing to call 'local authorities'

Housing Minister Sean Fraser, during a press conference on Monday, responded to reporters who asked how the governmentโ€™s recent measures announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeauโ€” including the removal of the GST from construction of rental apartments โ€” will help people find affordable homes right now.

โ€œYouโ€™ve got to realize the tools that we have at the federal level โ€ฆ will take a significant period of time to grow the housing stock, and thatโ€™s what weโ€™re trying to do,โ€ Fraser said. โ€œBut people who are without an option today need to reach out to their local authorities who are actually managing the on-the-ground supports. The situation varies, obviously, from community to community.โ€

Social media lit up at Fraserโ€™s use of โ€œlocal authorities,โ€ which can be used to describe the police.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre saw it as an opportunity to criticize the Liberal government: โ€œAfter the Liberals doubled housing costs, Trudeauโ€™s housing minister tells Canadians to call โ€˜local authoritiesโ€™ to help them find a place to live,โ€ Poilievre wrote on X.

'It was a mistake:' Ford reversing Ontario government's decision to open Greenbelt

Premier Doug Ford said he will be reversing his governmentโ€™s decision to open the Greenbelt to developers.

Ford made the announcement on Thursday afternoon at a news conference in Niagara Falls where his caucus has gathered for a party retreat.

"I made a promise to you that I wouldn't touch the Greenbelt. I broke that promise. And for that, I'm very, very sorry. I pride myself on keeping our promises. It was a mistake to open the Greenbelt. It was a mistake to establish a process that moves too fast,โ€ Ford told reporters.

Ford said the process involved in selecting what parcels of land would be removed from the Greenbelt left โ€œtoo much room for some people to benefit over others.โ€

"It caused people to question our motives. As a first step, to earn back your trust, I'll be reversing the changes we made and won't make any changes to the Greenbelt in the future,โ€ Ford said.

๐Ÿ’ฐAlberta releases pension plan report, seeks 53% of CPP's assets

Albertans could contribute less and receive more in benefits should the province create its own pension plan, but the program would also potentially face complex withdrawal negotiations, steep operating costs, and relies on receiving more than half of the Canada Pensionโ€™s Planโ€™s assets.

The findings were set out Thursday with the release of the government-commissioned pension plan report from Lifeworks.

It confirms that it is possible for Alberta to leave the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), without the approval of other provinces, but also that the CPP Act does not compel Ottawa to negotiate with a withdrawing province over the division of the CPPโ€™s assets and liabilities.

It assumes Alberta โ€” home to roughly 12 per cent of Canadaโ€™s population โ€” will receive 53 per cent of the CPPโ€™s base assets, some $334 billion, based on what it deems to be โ€œequal to Albertansโ€™ contributions less benefit payments and expenses accumulated with net investment earnings.โ€

Thursdayโ€™s report contends that Alberta workers and businesses have put $60 billion more into the CPP than has been paid out to Albertans since its inception in 1966.

When asked if the move was about gaining leverage against Ottawa, Danielle Smith emphasized that Albertans will have the final say in a referendum.

๐ŸŽ“Ottawa forecasts 1.4 million international student applications a year by 2027

The number of foreign students applying to come to Canada each year is forecast by the federal immigration department to rise to 1.4 million by 2027, an internal policy document says, which also raises concerns that such growth is โ€œunsustainable.โ€

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada forecast the rapid rise in the number of foreign students in a paper last month about establishing a class of โ€œtrustedโ€ universities and colleges, which would qualify for faster processing of international student study permits.

The document says that from 2019 to 2022 study permit applications for overseas students have increased by nearly 300,000 a year.

โ€œBy 2027, volumes are forecasted to nearly double to 1.4 million applications per year,โ€ it says.

Housing Minister Sean Fraser floated the prospect of a cap on international student numbers at the cabinet retreat in Charlottetown last month, saying the number of foreign students is putting pressure on rental markets and driving up costs.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ The Canadian Anti-Hate Network (CAHN) is an Antifa operation Chaired by former Chief Executive Officer of the Jewish-Canadian Congress Bernie Farber. CAHN receives funding from both the Canadian government (With government funding beginning in 2020 and the CAHN receiving $268'400 in from government grants in 2022 alone) and Canadian banking institutions (Roughly $250'000 from the Bank of Montreal in 2020 alone). There have been myriad controversies surrounding their quality of work, allegations, and more, some of which include:

-In October 2022 The Government of Saskatchewan's Ministry of Education declining to use a CAHN anti-racism teacher toolkit because, among other reasons, "The toolkit does not meet criteria such as being high quality, free from bias as reasonably possible..."

-CAHN board member Richard Warman filed a defamation lawsuit against Jonathan and Barbara Kay for publishing tweets critical of CAHN's connection to the American Antifa movement. On November 10th, 2022 the Ontario Superior Court of Justice dismissed the defamation lawsuit, ruling that the tweets in question were not defamatory. Quoting from Judge David Dwoskin:

The evidence disclosed that CAHN did in fact assist Antifa and that the movement has been violent. The Kays submission, which I accept, is that a human rights network like CAHN arguably (except in the most extreme circumstances) should not support a violent movement, and to do so, to most reasonable observers, would not be a "good look". [SOURCE]

-In September 2023 Canadian lawyer, who is also a non-White woman and child of immigrants, Caryma Sa'd and Elisa Hategan released an article and 84 page report titled "The HateGate Affair: Unmasking Canada's Hate Industry". This investigation exposed how the Canadian government largely ignored their own intelligence and security services who informed them that the 2022 Freedom Protesters and associated movements were not a threat to national security, and instead made decisions, including the decision to invoke the Emergencies Act for the only time in Canadian history, based on CAHN's low quality work. The report also exposed how "mainstream media" largely cited CAHN in their slander towards freedom loving Canadians.

Read the ARTICLE HERE, read the FULL PDF HERE, watch a 13 MINUTE VIDEO SUMMARY HERE, and watch a TWO HOUR INTERVIEW WITH CARYMA SA'D AND CANADIAN PATRIOT JEREMY MACKENZIE HERE.

A few days ago, the Canadian Anti-Hate Network applied for a 5 million dollar grant from the Canadian government so they can continue harassing Canadians who love freedom and are skeptical of the government. According to CAHN, there are over 6 million "conspiracy theorists" in Canada who require monitoring in order to protect "liberal-democracy".

The People's Party of Canada is a political party primarily focused on preserving the liberty of Canadian citizens, and they have recently released a petition to defund the CAHN, and prevent them from using Canadian taxpayer money to harass freedom loving Canadian taxpayers.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ Rift in Canada-India relations

Relations between Canada and India are rapidly deteriorating after Justin Trudeau said the Canadian government is investigating "credible allegations" about the possible involvement of Indian government agents in the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

โ–ช๏ธHardeep Singh Nijjar, a prominent Sikh separatist leader in B.C. and a Canadian citizen, was killed outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, B.C., on June 18. Nijjar supported a Sikh homeland in the form of an independent Khalistani state and was designated by India as a "terrorist" in July 2020. Today, Canada has the largest population of Sikhs outside of the northern Indian state of Punjab.

Prior to that, on June 4, a Khalistani parade was held in Brampton, Ont., featuring a float depicting the assassination of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards in 1984. The act sparked outrage from the Indian government.

In early September, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave Prime Minister Trudeau a cold reception at the G20 summit in New Delhi, expressing his concern about Sikh activities in Canada. The two leaders did not hold a bilateral meeting. Ottawa suspended talks on a proposed trade treaty with India.

๐Ÿ”นOn Monday, Sept. 18, Trudeau said that in investigation into Nijjar's death, the government has gathered both human and signals intelligence that points to Indian involvement. Trudeau then called for India's cooperation in the investigation. Shortly after Trudeau's remarks, Canada expelled a senior Indian diplomat from the country.

๐Ÿ”นIndia's foreign ministry said Tuesday that it had given the senior Canadian diplomat five days to leave the country.

๐Ÿ”นOn Wednesday, a spokesman for Global Affairs Canada confirmed that Canada would pull some of its staff out of the country, citing threats on social media. At the same time, India issued a travel advisory, warning its citizens to be cautious when traveling to Canada.

๐Ÿ”นOn Thursday, India announced it was suspending new visas for Canadians, and asked Ottawa to reduce its diplomatic presence in the country.

Sikh separatist on Indiaโ€™s most wanted list murdered in Winnipeg

Indian media is reporting that Sukhdool Singh Gill, who also goes by the alias Sukha Duneke, was shot and killed in Winnipeg on Wednesday, in what media is describing as a gang-related murder.

Winnipeg Police confirmed in a statement that a 39-year-old Sukhdool Singh Gill has been idenitifed as the victim in an ongoing homicide investigation but did not elaborate on his alleged gang connections.

On Wednesday, Indiaโ€™s National Investigation Agency released a list of 43 individuals accused of being involved in terror or gang related activities, some with links in Canada. Duneke was ranked no. 33 on the list.

Ranked no. 1 is Lawrence Bishnoi, whose gang has apparently already claimed responsibility for the killing of Duneke.

๐Ÿ’ฐCanada Pension Plan says flat 'NO!' to Alberta claim on half of CPP assets

The report on an Alberta pension plan says the province is entitled to $334 billion from the Canada Pension Plan. That is 53 per cent of all the funds held by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.

The flat โ€œnoโ€ came quickly from Michel Leduc, senior global communication director for CPP Investments, the governing board.

"We respect the right of Albertans to consider withdrawing from the Canada Pension Plan, however, the amount the report says could be extracted from the CPP is impossible and based on an invented formula," he said.

"References to how much a province might claim from the CPP Fund should be regarded with caution and a high degree of skepticism until many issues are resolved between federal and provincial governments."

๐ŸšฌGrowth in illegal tobacco sales costing 3 provinces $2.47 billion in taxes: retail report

The governments of British Columbia, Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador lost up to $2.47 billion in tax revenues over four years due to the growth in illegal tobacco sales, says a convenience industry report.

The Convenience Industry Council of Canada report released Wednesday examined the downward trend in legal tobacco sales in the three provinces since 2019, compared with the rising growth in the underground contraband tobacco market.

The report said there are more profits in selling illegal cigarettes than illicit drugs, yet the penalties for getting caught with the cigarettes are less harsh.

๐Ÿ”นIt estimated B.C. lost between $215 million and $591 million in tobacco tax revenue to the illegal sales between 2019 and 2022.

๐Ÿ”นIn Ontario, the loss for the same time period was valued between $990 million and $1.8 billion, and between $25 million and $81 million in Newfoundland, the report said, which suggested the losses could be similar for the other provinces not included in the review.

๐Ÿ”นIllegal cigarette sales could comprise up to 67 per cent of Ontario's total tobacco market, 45 per cent in B.C. and 44 per cent in Newfoundland.

๐Ÿฉบ Canada moves toward 3-year training for family doctors

The College of Family Physicians of Canada wants to increase the length of family medicine residency from two years to three as a way of preparing doctors for more complex patients. Residency is the clinical specialty training that new physicians must do after they obtain their medical degrees; they can't practice without completing it.

The College did consultations with established family doctors, medical schools, students and residents, as well as looked at programs in other countries, to conclude two years is not enough time to learn the core skills, plus subjects such as elder care, new technologies and virtual care, mental health and addictions. The first three-year program is expected to roll out in 2027.

The plan is raising concerns it will increase the shortage of family doctors at a time when six million Canadians don't have access to one.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Nazi-linked veteran received ovation in Parliament during Zelensky's visit

Just after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered an address in the House of Commons on Friday, Canadian lawmakers gave 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka a standing ovation when Speaker Anthony Rota drew attention to him. Rota introduced Hunka as a war "hero" who fought for "Ukrainian independence against the Russians."

Members of Parliament from all parties rose to applaud Hunka.

Hunka was a member of the Waffen-SS Galicia Division or the SS 14th Waffen Division, a volunteer unit that fought on the side of the Nazis.

On Sunday, different Canadian Jewich organizations demanded an apology for honoring a man who was part of the division that โ€œwas responsible for the mass murder of innocent civilians with a level of brutality and malice that is unimaginable.โ€

In a statement late Sunday afternoon, Rota said he recently became โ€œaware of more information which causes me to regret my decisionโ€ to recognize Hunka. He said he takes full responsibility for this mistake.

New federal party takes shape

The interim leader of Canada's newest fledgling federal party says he wants it to be an option for people who are tired of both the governing Liberals and the Conservatives, who he says are guilty of "rage farming."

New Brunswick Independent MLA Dominic Cardy made the comment as the group Centre Ice Canadians announced its plans to form a new party called Canadian Future. Cardy said the group, which had first been called Centre Ice Conservatives, decided to change its name after months of consultation on the idea of launching a new party.

A group of moderate Tories used the group as a vehicle to push for change during last year's Conservative leadership race, arguing their party should focus on topics such as affordability rather than issues arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They eventually broadened their scope, swapping out "Conservatives" for "Canadians" in the title so as to include Liberals who were interested in the push for a more centrist message in Canadian politics.

Cardy said that the new party plans to hold a convention next year and hopes to run a slate of candidates whenever the next federal election rolls around.
