Humans are continually faced with an increasing number of diseases that are gotten from animals through the environment or direct contact with the animals.

These diseases are called zoonotic diseases and need to be tackled using a One Health approach.

#OneHealthNigeria
After nearly 3 years of fighting #COVID19, it’s time to accelerate efforts toward rebuilding health systems capable of responding to multiple health threats in #Africa.

#TakeResponsibility
Prevention and control of zoonotic diseases require the collective effort of the human, animal and environmental sectors.

Examples of these diseases are #LassaFever, #Measles, #Cholera, #Rabies, #Monkeypox, #EbolaVirusDisease, #AvianInfluenza etc.
#OneHealth approach recognises that the health of people is closely connected to the health of animals and our shared environment.

This #OneHealthDay, we reiterate the importance of joint efforts to address public health concerns at the human-animal-environment interface.
In 2019, The National One Health Strategic Plan was jointly developed by stakeholders from the human, animal and environmental sectors.
