The results from Nigeria's first #JointExternalEvaluation guided the development of the National Action Plan for Health Security in 2018.

This 5-year plan covered the minimum investments required to effectively prevent, detect, and respond to public health threats and strengthen Nigeria's health security.

3 weeks ago, we commenced the #JEENigeria2023 process with a self-evaluation exercise, bringing together MDA's and partners involved in Nigeria's health security.

Nigeria has made significant strides in strengthening our national health security over the last five years.

Following a rigorous, objective and in-depth evaluation of Nigeria's health security capacities, Nigeria has recorded a health security rating of 54%.

This 54% JEE score, is a major stride from the 39% score recorded in 2017 and reflects the investments made by MDAs and partners involved in health security.

Nigeria 🇳🇬 is one of the first three countries to conduct a second Joint External Evaluation.

Individuals at higher risk of #diphtheria infection are strongly advised to get vaccinated against diphtheria.

Those at higher risk include:
➡️Children & adults who have not received a dose of the diphtheria toxoid-containing vaccine
➡️People living in crowded environments & areas with poor sanitation
➡️Healthcare workers & those exposed to cases of diphtheria

Visit a primary health care centre close to you to get the anti-diphtheria vaccine.
