Humans are continually faced with an increasing number of diseases that are gotten from animals through the environment or direct contact with the animals.

These diseases are called zoonotic diseases and need to be tackled using a One Health approach.

#OneHealthNigeria
Ensuring food safety is key in the prevention of infectious diseases like #LassaFever.

Store food in tightly closed containers and ensure proper hygiene in the preparation and consumption of food.

#TakeResponsibility
Recent global health events including the #COVID19 pandemic and #mpox outbreak, are examples of diseases emerging as a result of close contact between animals and people.

#OneHealth approach recognises the close connection between the health of people, animals, and the environment and the role this connection plays in the spread of diseases.

Fighting emerging disease threats like #COVID19 requires #OneHealth collaboration across the human health, animal health, and environmental spectrum.

No one person, organisation, or sector alone can effectively address diseases at the human-animal-environment interface.

The countdown is on to #ARS2023!

The 14th African Rotavirus Symposium will showcase the sharing of ideas, expertise, and learning across organisations and countries in the areas of rotavirus vaccine introduction, the vaccine's effect, and the prevention and control of diarrheal disease in Africa.
Communication, coordination, & collaboration among partners working in animal, human, and environmental health as well as other relevant areas are essential to the #OneHealth approach.

Working together allows us to have the biggest impact on improving the health of both the people and animals living in a shared environment.

#OneHealthDay2023
#OneHealthNigeria
#OneHealthNigeria is a shared vision to build a nation of healthy people and healthy animals living in a balanced ecosystem.

This #OneHealthDay2023, we reiterate the importance of bringing together human, animal and environmental health professionals to solve challenges in preventing, detecting and responding to infectious disease outbreaks.
The National One Health Strategic Plan, jointly developed by human, animal and environmental health stakeholders, is a five-year strategic plan for the implementation of the #OneHealthNigeria

This plan reflects the shared commitment to enhance multi-sectoral coordination, collaboration and communication in addressing human-animal-ecosystem public health challenges
