EXCLUSIVE: The California juvenile convicted of mowing down a mother walking her 8-month-old in a stroller in Los Angeles last year will appear in court Thursday morning to ask for early release, Fox News Digital has learned.

The hearing, on the docket for 9 a.m., was scheduled at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Shea Sanna, a deputy district attorney in Los Angeles who had called for stiffer sentencing for the suspect to begin with.

The young mother, who has asked only to be identified as Rachel, said Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon’s office did not reach out to her in advance regarding the hearing.

"I remain incredibly disappointed with the justice system in LA, but I am unsurprised to learn that I am yet again being denied my rights as a victim to participate and use my voice in the judicial process, Fuck George Gascon."

Multiple branches of the U.S. military have bought access to a powerful internet monitoring tool that claims to cover over 90 percent of the world’s internet traffic, and which in some cases provides access to people’s email data, browsing history, and other information such as their sensitive internet cookies, according to contracting data and other documents reviewed by Motherboard. 

Additionally, Sen. Ron Wyden says that a whistleblower has contacted his office concerning the alleged warrantless use and purchase of this data by NCIS, a civilian law enforcement agency that’s part of the Navy, after filing a complaint through the official reporting process with the Department of Defense, according to a copy of the letter shared by Wyden’s office with Motherboard.

A man was arrested by Los Angeles Airport police after assaulting a flight attendant on an American Airlines flight from Cabo. Good samaritans helped restrain the passenger until the flight landed at LAX, according to witnesses. An investigation is underway, Malik Earnest reports.

Houston, Texas: After several active shooter threats that were not credible, HISD's Police Chief spoke with FOX 26 one-on-one. 

Lopez says unfortunately they receive calls every week about threats to schools, and they take each one seriously. 

"It’s something that’s important to me. It's something I think about every day," says Lopez. 
Post-Uvalde, Chief Lopez says district police departments nationwide took a critical look into their procedures.

For HISD, he says room for improvement was equipment. 

"All of our officers are trained to respond to an active shooter event, and we will go in," says Lopez.

"The primary priority for the request for all of that equipment, wasn't the fact that we weren’t prepared to enter the rooms. It was the fact that we didn’t have the tools to enter the rooms, and that was the biggest issue that happened in Uvalde."
