“Ten days before Signature Bank collapsed, the House Republican overseeing an inquiry into the bank’s failure was inside its boardroom on New York’s Fifth Avenue.

Patrick McHenry was there to raise thousands of dollars from bank executives.

The mood inside the Signature boardroom at the March 2 fundraiser was calm, according to a person who was at the event who asked for anonymity to discuss the private affair. There was no overt anxiety or tension, the person said; instead there were questions about the debt ceiling. 

McHenry’s campaign decided last week it won’t process any of the contributions from the event, according to a spokesperson.”

'Former President Donald Trump is fighting a federal judge’s determination that his communications with attorney Evan Corcoran — amid a grand jury probe of Trump’s handling of classified documents — likely contain evidence of a crime.

Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign issued a statement Tuesday attacking special counsel Jack Smith and the judge who issued the sealed ruling, Beryl Howell. The statement followed increasingly detailed news reports about Howell’s determination that Corcoran could be forced to testify and turn over related documents because prosecutors had shown sufficient evidence of an alleged effort to mislead investigators.

“Prosecutors only attack lawyers when they have no case whatsoever,” the Trump campaign statement said, arguing that an ABC News report and other anonymously sourced stories about the still-sealed decision are based on illegal disclosures. “These leaks are happening because there is no factual or legal basis or substance to any case against President Trump.”

The Manhattan grand jury will not be meeting today, delaying any potential indictment of President Donald Trump until tomorrow at the earliest.

The DC Court of Appeals has upheld the piercing of Trump's attorney-client privilege with his lawyer, Evan Corcoran.

Trump's lawyer is required to produce documents and records to the DOJ. (He'll also likely have to testify before a grand jury.)

This relates to the Special Counsel's investigation into Trump's handling of "classified" documents.

It's starting to look like Trump leaked his imminent indictment on purpose knowing that the mainstream media would latch onto a nothingburger story and therefore skyrocket his popularity as the only man truly over the target in the eyes of the masses.
Trump plays the media like a fiddle.
He is the master and they are his mere puppets.
