There's something very strange things about the terror attack in Moscow.
Firstly, the people who carried it out do not seem to actually be Islamic fundamentalists. Islamic fundamentalists believe that if they die during jihad they go to heaven, that's why they either fight to the death or use suicide vests at the end of their rampage. These men attempted to escape.
Secondly, upon their capture, they have all talked and admitted that they were paid to do this. Money is not a motivating factor for Islamic fundamentalists, instead, their motivation is jihad and a trip to heaven.
Finally, from the footage I have seen, the men looked well trained and seemed to know what they were doing, they didn't behave as if it was their first time using a firearm.
From these observations, it doesn't look as if the men involved in this were jihadists, but instead it looks like they were mercenaries who were paid by someone to do this. The only question is; who?
