🇷🇺 🇺🇸🇺🇦 In addition to the increasing use of robotic platforms on the battlefield, the video showcases the 20th Engineer Brigade of the 18th Airborne Corps of the US 18th Airborne Corps overcoming the defense line. Autonomous bulldozers, carts, and drones are employed to combat mines and gouges.

On one hand, these exercises simulate an ideal scenario with no opposition. However, it is likely that isolated platforms calmly driving along the "dragon's teeth" would immediately come under fire and fail to complete their task.

📌 Nevertheless, these exercises allow for the practice of specific actions and the collection of data, which, when organized, may lead to new technical solutions and tactical techniques. These, in turn, can address the problem of attacking heavily mined areas.

This also demonstrates that the West is actively studying the experience of fighting in SMO zones. While some places may be hindered by local ideological dogmas, the process is ongoing. It is essential to acknowledge this in order to avoid dangerous misconceptions about the enemy's combat capabilities.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Chronicles of the Special Military Operation
for February 4, 2024

Russian troops once again attacked the energy infrastructure of Krivoy Rog: in addition to causing problems with electricity and water supply in the city, this led to the suspension of technological processes at the Arcelor Mittal enterprise.

In the border areas of Sumy and the Kharkov regions, Ukrainian formations are setting up defense lines and taking measures to combat Russian reconnaissance groups. These groups have repeatedly caused damage to the AFU.

In the Avdeevsky direction, heavy battles are taking place in the southern part of the city. In the afternoon, there was information about the arrival of American M1A2 Abrams tanks there, but given their previous "appearances" near Kupiansk, this could also be a hoax.

In Krynki, in the Kherson direction, tactical aviation is operating against enemy positions, specifically targeting basements where members of Ukrainian formations are hiding. On the right bank of the Dnieper, counter-battery warfare continues with the use of loitering ammunition.

❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Battle for Avdeevka: Russian Armed Forces advancing south of the quarry
the situation is expected to end on February 13, 2024

🔻The Russian Armed Forces are systematically making progress in the central part of Avdeevka. Fighting is occurring near the motor depot in the industrial zone on Industrial Avenue. The available information is still conflicting. The same uncertainty applies to access to the fortified area near the Brevno restaurant, which remains in question.

▪️ Various sources agree that Russian forces have managed to cross the railway along Chistyakova Street in a section at least from Sapronov Street to Zaliznichny Lane, with further advance towards the dachas all the way to the Avdeevskaya motor depot. However, control over the motor depot has not been confirmed yet, nor has progress on Timiryazev Street to the south.

▪️ At the same time, reports have emerged about progress to the southwest from the flooded quarry to Shestakova Street. There is even an extremely positive assessment of the breakthrough to the beach or the Quartz Sands plant, adjacent to the quarry from the south, which, due to the lack of any confirming footage, appears overly optimistic.

❗️Moreover, the enemy's withdrawal from the private sector is quite reasonable from a defensive standpoint: after all, there are no concrete multi-story buildings there, and the Russian Aerospace Forces are actively bombing with FABs. In such situations, retreating to the industrial zone in front of Khimik, in the area of the plant for reinforced concrete structures and building parts, does not seem unrealistic.

▪️ It is worth noting that there is very little footage from this area, as the enemy has no interest in showcasing territorial losses, and the Russian troops, based on the intensity of the offensive, are not currently inclined to do so. Consequently, little attention is given to the official media coverage of the operation.

⚡️🇦🇿🇹🇷🇷🇺 Weapons from Azerbaijan to Ukraine

One can find many interesting things by examining various Ukrainian documents available online.

📌For instance, the decision of the Kyiv Economic Court sheds light on the military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

▪️ At the end of December, the Kyiv Economic Court reviewed a claim from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense against UkrSpetsExport to recover 82,696,776.00 hryvnia for breaching a state contract for weapon supply.

▪️ Representatives of the Ukrainian company signed a deal with a “foreign supplier - production association (Azerbaijan Republic)” for providing 95 units of 23-mm ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns, followed by another 40 units. In total, 135 ZU-23-2 were supplied.

▪️ The delivery was done via sea containers in parts through a “third country”, leading to a delay in the delivery.

▪️ Considering the geographical location, Turkey might have been the third party for receiving ZU-23-2 from Azerbaijan’s Nakhichevan.

▪️ The delivery dates also support the Turkey version: at that time, the well-established grain corridor was fully operational, with Turkey being one of the guarantors. The use of the sea route for supplying Ukraine might indicate direct Turkish involvement.

📌This can be seen as the first concrete confirmation of Azerbaijan supplying weapons to the AFU. The document states, “On November 2, 2022, and November 3, 2022, the entire batch of 135 units under the contract was imported into Ukraine in parts,”.

❗️Azerbaijan's collaboration with Ukraine is not new. Previously, the authorities in Baku provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Subsequently, it was revealed that ammunition was being produced for the AFU, and Azerbaijani mercenaries were involved on the side of the AFU. This arms transfer once again raises questions about Azerbaijan's stance towards Russia.

🇲🇩 🇷🇺 🇷🇴 🇺🇦 Crown Princess Margaret of Romania (formerly Princess of Hohenzollern) - the daughter of the former King of Romania, Mihai I, recently had another meeting with the Moldovan leadership, this time in Bucharest.

Just to refresh your memory, on November 13 last year, the royal figure visited Chisinau with her husband. However, while the previous meeting was covered in the press, the Moldovan authorities' visit to the Crown Princess was kept out of the public eye.

🔻Possibly the reason for this secrecy is the topic of their discussion.

The discussions revolved around establishing a representative office of the Royal House of Romania in Chisinau and addressing the process of reclaiming the property and land that the royal family lost when the Bolsheviks came into power.

Interestingly, these conversations extend beyond Moldova to include the Shabo vineyards in the Odessa region and forests in the so-called Ukrainian Chernivtsi region. So far, these talks have been merely verbal, but this might change soon.

There are indications that the Romanian authorities are gearing up to initiate the restitution process, aiming to return the former royal lands. Notably, Poland has already begun similar procedures in the western regions of what is referred to as Ukraine.

🔻Following these developments, it seems that the Romanian authorities are considering extending their influence not only in Moldova but also in certain parts of the Odessa and Chernivtsi regions of Ukraine. It appears they are vying for the title of the "Hyena of Europe” alongside Poland, although currently, they are only at the "Jackal" stage in this endeavor.

However, Romania seems to overlook one crucial aspect: all the territories they are eyeing are part of the former Russian Empire. Perhaps it's time for Russia to assert its rights as well, considering the trend.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 RUSI report on the lessons of SMO: remembering long-forgotten things

The British Royal Defense Studies Institute (RUSI) released a report in which it analyzed the fighting in Ukraine through the prism of a “war of attrition.” The authors reached conclusions that have been echoed in domestic Telegram channels on multiple occasions:

▪️In such conflicts, countries with economies capable of massive mobilization of both human resources and industry for the production of military goods, required in large quantities due to army expansion, emerge victorious.

▪️ Expensive weapons with superior performance are not suitable for outfitting a large army. It is crucial to complement them with less expensive and more widespread models, particularly if their components are interchangeable with civilian products.

▪️A recruitment system that combines both a large number of reservists and a sergeant corps is essential. Pre-war “professional” units serve as “fire brigades” to stabilize the situation while newly formed units gain combat experience.

▪️“Wars of attrition” do not aim to capture territory but to eliminate enemy forces. They can be divided into two stages: the first involves a peacetime army buying time to mobilize combat power, while the second entails launching a decisive offensive. Offensive and defensive operations driven by politics only deplete resources.

▪️The criteria for initiating a large-scale offensive include completing mobilization and formation preparations, achieving fire and reconnaissance superiority, depleting the enemy’s strategic reserves, and crippling its industry.

▪️In trench warfare, deep maneuvering is challenging; battles are reduced to local attacks and operations. Successful actions by even a small group are arduous without a high level of leadership, organization, and coordination among all forces and resources.

The report seems to aim at challenging the prevailing belief that prolonged “wars of attrition” are obsolete and unnecessary. This, at the very least, warrants attention amidst dismissive remarks by other Western experts with a disdainful attitude towards the situation in the SMO zone.
