Renner Gentile, 52, of Rocky Hill, died on February 7, 2023, following a 7-month battle with breast cancer

Tonie was well known in the Emergency Services community working over 25 years with EMS providers across the U.S.

“She was diagnosed in July 2022. We were told initially that this was something that she was going to be able to live with and it wasn’t terminal. We had a lot of hope, but the cancer moved so quickly, and the treatment didn’t work. We didn’t catch it fast enough”

Bianca Marie Kenney, 29, of New Haven, died unexpectedly on May 23, 2024 at YNHH.

She worked as an admin asst for Air-Lock, Inc. in Milford.

A gifted chef, Geoff opened his own restaurant, Kiss Cafe, in Cheshire, in 2019. Unfortunately, the cafe did not survive the pandemic.

Órla Baxendale Died on Jan. 11, 2024, after eating a Stew Leonard's Vanilla Florentine Cookie (Danbury or Newington store)

The East Lancashire dancer moved to NYC in 2018 to train as a scholarship student at The Ailey School. She was due to embark on a world tour with dance company MOMIX.

Órla performed in New York Fashion week and was a cast member of English With An Accent, a dance-theater production which was performed at New York's Lincoln Center.

Michael J. Sernyak, Jr., M.D., 62, of Branford, died from cancer on May 25, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

At the time of his death, Michael was professor, Deputy Chair for State Affairs, and Deputy Chair for Clinical Affairs for the Dept of Psychiatry. Also, he was CEO of the Connecticut Mental Health Center of the CT Dept of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Affiliated With: Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital

Michael's wife, Ismene Petrakis, MD, is Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine and the Director of the Mental Health Service Line at VA Connecticut Healthcare System
Stefani Nady Hernandez Amaya, 30, died unexpectedly on April 7, 2024, in Bridgeport

6/12/22 - On May 22, family & friends threw the couple a baby shower. After the event, Joshua felt the resumption of a headache which had been bothering him for about a month. "That day, he couldn't answer any of my questions, & later began vomiting” Michelle said. At Johnson Memorial, a CAT scan showed a mass on his brain. Joshua was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma

9/3/22 - Joshua’s treatment plan is a 5/23 chemo regimen (5 days of high dosage chemo, 23 days off) for one year. . . Currently there are no clinical trials & they would only be recommended if he has a recurrence 3 months after completion of radiation. His current prognosis is 20-24 months.

12/5/23 - Josh has no active cancer cells 🎉

Becky Yering Fraser, 48, of Waterford

5/29/24 - “Becky was diagnosed in Dec 2021 with Metastatic Breast Cancer. She has continued working F/T while undergoing treatment, up until April 2024. Becky has since had major surgery & many recent setbacks, including blood clots, infections, multiple strokes, a decline in her respiratory status & progression of her cancer, which has affected her liver function. It is uncertain if Becky’s body will be strong enough to have any further chemo”

"She has been at Yale for 3 weeks now and is currently in the ICU. In the days ahead, Becky’s family will continue to come together to make decisions regarding the next steps of this journey and what is in her best interest"
