#CIA Fires Whistleblower Who Outed Sexual Misconduct

The CIA has fired a 36-year-old woman who reported an assault against her at the CIA headquarters to authorities and testified about it in US Congress.

"To be clear, the CIA does not tolerate sexual assault, sexual harassment or whistleblower retaliation," CIA spokesperson Tammy Thorp said.

The whistleblower's termination was less than six months after she filed a federal civil rights lawsuit claiming the CIA had retaliated against her for reporting her assault.

The woman is suing, claiming the CIA "unlawfully ended a young woman’s career only because she had the moral courage, lacking in her managers, to stand up and be a witness about her sexual assault."

The whistleblower reportedly led to two dozen other cases being reported to authorities and Congress over the past two years.
