Google staffers storm NYC, California, Seattle offices to protest $1.2B Israel contract

Google staffers wearing traditional Arab headscarves barged into the California office of the company’s top cloud executive, while other workers staged a sit-in at the company’s headquarters in New York City to protest the tech giant’s ties to the Israeli government on Tuesday.

The pro-Palestinian employees, part of a group called “No Tech for Apartheid,” used social media accounts on X and Twitch to post images and live video of their takeover of the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based office of Thomas Kurian, the CEO of Google Cloud.

The activist workers read statements denouncing the company over its contract with the Israel government, which the group accuses of carrying out a “genocide” in its bombing campaign in the Gaza Strip — following the Hamas massacre of Israelis on Oct. 7.

The Republican-led House Oversight Committee is launching an investigation into President Joe Biden’s newly established task force on corporate-pricing practices, claiming it could be used as a “political tool,” according to a letter obtained by CNBC

In the letter dated Tuesday, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability demanded that by April 30, Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan turn over all FTC records related to the creation of the Strike Force on Unfair and Illegal Pricing, which Biden launched in March to address concerns related to corporate-pricing practices.

The Justice Department argued that Fischer’s actions were a "deliberate attempt" to stop a joint session of Congress directly from certifying the 2020 election, thus qualifying their use of the statute that criminalizes behavior that "otherwise obstructs, influences, or impedes any official proceeding, or attempts to do" and carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

But legal experts told Fox News Digital that the government’s argument started to "fall apart" after questioning from the justices. 

"Gorsuch laid bare the problems for the government's argument," Turley said. "This is where the government's arguments seem to fall apart in that."

"When pressed … Prelogar started to introduce contextual standards and said that these would just not be strong cases. And that was not the way to go, in my opinion."
