On Wednesdayβs broadcast of Bloombergβs βSound On,β Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) reacted to Sen. Tim Kaineβs (D-VA) plan to try to strip the approval of the Mountain Valley pipeline from the debt ceiling bill by stating that doing so risks a global recession over one pipeline.
Co-host Joe Mathieu asked, [relevant exchange begins around 53:50] βAre you concerned at all about the Senate, or if this gets through the House, weβre pretty much done?β
Sherman answered, βI could imagine the Senate somehow pushing this to June 6 instead of June 5. But I have little doubt that itβs going to pass the Senate.β READ

House Republicans to cite Bannon precedent in FBI Director Wray contempt caseπͺ
House Republicans may soon look to the case of Stephen Bannon in their effort to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress.
GOP lawmakers say they plan to move forward with a contempt of Congress vote as soon as next week. If successful, that would result in a criminal referral to the Department of Justice, which would then decide whether to seek charges against Wray.
When the Justice Department faced the decision to indict Bannon, a onetime adviser to former President Donald Trump, over the same type of referral, the agency moved ahead with a case that Republicans are preparing to cite as a precedent.

Gov. Ron DeSantis's (R-FL) signing of legislation barring Big Tech companies from content moderation, now under review in the courts, is a loose end in his legacy as he seeks the White House.
One of the Republican presidential candidate's biggest tech-related policy decisions was to back S.B. 7072, a bill that would allow Florida residents to sue a tech company for up to $250,000 a day for removing a statewide political candidate from its platform for more than two weeks, or notably less for county or local positions. The law passed in both the state House and Senate and was signed into law on May 24, 2021. DeSantis presented it as a challenge to Big Tech companies such as Facebook and Twitter, while critics argued it impeded free speech by requiring them to host unwanted content.
