Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, and Republican Kentucky Rep. James Comer, Chair of the House Oversight Committee, sent a letter Monday to Attorney General Merrick Garland calling on the Department of Justice (DOJ) to comply with subpoenas issued by both committees or face contempt of Congress.

The Daily Caller first obtained a copy of the letter, in which the two lawmakers renew demands for the audio recordings of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s interviews with President Joe Biden and the transcript and audio recordings of Hur’s interviews with Biden’s ghostwriter Mark Zwonitzer. The committees previously requested both, however the DOJ only sent back two transcripts of Hur’s interview with Zwonitzer and withheld the audio recordings of Hur’s interviews of Biden and Zwonitzer.

Supreme Court to debate 'sleeper' case that could affect Trump federal prosecution It is the "sleeper" case that could upend the most closely watched criminal prosecution in the nation. And how the U.S. Supreme Court decides the fate of an obscure Capitol…
We are underway at SCOTUS

Clarence Thomas asks first question and how 2 provisions (c)(1) and "otherwise" (c)(2) are related.

The question is whether the second part--very vague--is tied or independent of the first part: "alters, destroys, mutilates, or conceals a record, document, or other object, with the intent to impair the object's integrity or availability for use in an official proceeding."

Appeal to celebrity: Meet the groups Mike Johnson took his Trump-backed plan to before anyone else

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) reportedly enlisted influencers as part of his push to publicize an election fraud bill alongside former President Donald Trump.

After Johnson and Trump made their pitch on the legislation on Friday, several Republican social media accounts touted the SAVE Act. NBC News reported that Johnson’s office gave several of the accounts background information before the unveiling.

The legislation, which has yet to be filed, would require states to remove noncitizens from voter rolls and require proof of citizenship to vote. In federal elections, only citizens are allowed to vote, but in some elections, noncitizens have been allowed to vote for local offices.

Various accounts on X, including Students for Trump Chairman Ryan Fournier’s, “DC_Draino,” and “End Wokeness,” promoted the legislation as “good news” and implored Congress to pass it.

BREAKING🚨: DA files motion to hold Trump in contempt

🔗
Senator Vance: I’ve heard multiple people who hate Donald Trump argue that the REPO Act will be used to control him in the next administration. So why is a Republican House speaker pushing it through Congress?

The legislation freezes the current sanctions regime on Russia, and requires an act of Congress to change it. Maybe you like those sanctions, or hate them, or think they should be harsher. Whatever your views, the president should make this decision.

This is insanity! They are trying to preemptively prevent my father from negotiating a peace deal and settling the Russia/Ukraine war once and for all. They are trying to hamstring his second term knowing can achieve peace ASAP!

All the swamp wasn’t is more death for dollars $$$

The REPO Act will make it impossible for Donald Trump to engage in diplomacy in Europe during his second term. We need to kill this bill or at the very least make it sunset before the next Trump administration.

The Maui Fire Department is expected to release a report Tuesday detailing how the agency responded to a series of wildfires that burned on the island during a windstorm last August — including one that killed 101 people in the historic town of Lahaina and became the deadliest U.S. wildfire in more than a century.

The release comes one day before the Hawaii Attorney General is expected to release the first phase of a separate comprehensive investigation about the events before, during and after the Aug. 8 fires.

The reports could help officials understand exactly what happened when the wind-whipped fire overtook the historic Maui town of Lahaina, destroying roughly 3,000 properties and causing more than $5.5 billion in estimated damage, according to state officials.
