On the commemoration of 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between United States and Kenya, Kenyan president William S. Ruto was on an official visit to the United States. Kenya is also the first key Sub-Saharan African country to be granted the title.
As per official statement of The White House, President Biden & Ruto announced new investment deals.

• Encouraging Trade and Investment to Generate Prosperity

• Partnering on Regional Challenges and Global Security.
“Our joint counterterrorism operations have degraded IS and al-Shabab across East Africa, our mutual support for Ukraine has rallied the world to stand behind the UN Charter, and our work together on Haiti is helping pave the way to reduce instability and insecurity.” said US pres. Biden during a news conference at the White House.
The designation is notable because it shows that U.S. values Kenya, but it doesn’t give Nairobi the same privileges afforded to NATO allies and members of the Five Eyes alliance.
As per a report by Politico, Ivo Daalder, a former U.S. ambassador to NATO, noted that the main thing it does is allow Kenya to more easily buy certain military technologies that Washington wouldn’t necessarily give to other countries.

Ukrainian pilots are being imparted the basics of aerial combat on French Alpha trainer jets as part of the training in anticipation of the arrival of the F-16 in Ukraine.
