Risk perception is a key area in health & risk communication that affects how people deal with hazards.
The comparatively lower incidence & case fatality of #COVID19 in Nigeria has been hypothesised to contribute to the low perception of risk in the country.
In our latest peer-reviewed article, we published findings of an analysis conducted on the changes in public risk perception during the first and second waves of #COVID19Nigeria.

Several disease outbreaks have been recorded in Nigeria in the last 10 years with imported cases of #Ebola in 2014, annual outbreaks of #YellowFever, #LassaFever, #CerebrospinalMeningitis, #cholera, #measles, and most recently, #COVID19.
In response to lessons learned from the 2003 severe acute respiratory syndrome outbreak, World Health Organization (WHO) accelerated the revision of the International Health Regulations - essential for addressing global health security, which Nigeria adopted in 2005 and came into force in 2007.
In this article, we share Nigeria's experience of conducting a country-led midterm self-assessment using a slightly modified application of the second edition of the WHO JEE and the new WHO benchmarks tool

In an ongoing collaboration between the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control & Robert Koch Institut, a baseline study was conducted aimed to improve diagnostic stewardship & expand #AntimicrobialResistance surveillance capacity, particularly in Nigerian secondary healthcare facilities.

At the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, we continuously #BuildBackBetter by adapting experiences from outbreak responses to develop policies & programmes.
This paper led by Dr Fatima Saleh describes our initiatives toward adapting public health response activities by establishing learning systems across our structures in NCDC.
