📢 Announcing the first Media EIS (Epidemiology, Infodemiology and Social Behaviour Change) Fellowship Program — a cohort of 30 passionate media practitioners will undergo training to strengthen Nigeria’s capacity to prevent, detect and respond to public health events.

We are excited about this journey!

The Media EIS Programme will provide fellows with skills in basic epidemiology, effective social & behavior change communication as well as infodemic management

A critical part of combatting public health events is accurate and timely reporting by media experts

Management of public health emergencies requires qualified media practitioners who can provide life-saving information

The Media-EIS Fellowship aims to fill the information gap and combat misinformation during events of public health importance
Meningitis is an inflammation of the membranes around the spinal cord & brain.

Seek medical attention when you experience signs & symptoms such as:

➡️Drowsiness
➡️Rash
➡️Seizures

Reduce the risk of #LassaFever infection and spread in our communities

To reduce the risk of Lassa fever:

🚫Avoid direct contact with rats
🚫 Block all holes to prevent the entry of rats
Maintain a clean environment
Store grains and foodstuff in rodent-proof containers
Hand washing is one of the most effective ways of preventing the spread of infectious diseases including #meningitis

Always wash your hands with soap under running water for protection against meningitis and other deadly diseases

Also ensure you and your loved ones are vaccinated with the recommended immunisations

Are you a doctor, nurse, laboratory scientist, or support staff with a high level of exposure to suspected or confirmed cases of #diphtheria?

People of all age groups who come in contact with the urine, faeces, saliva, or blood of rats or infected persons are at risk of getting infected with #LassaFever.

🪤Use traps, rat gums to get rid of rats in the house
👐🏽Do not touch rats, dead or alive with your bare hands
🐀Avoid eating food/fruits eaten by rats
#Diphtheria spreads easily between people.

Individuals who have come in close contact with a confirmed case of #diphtheria should report early to the nearest healthcare facility for prompt treatment.

Early reporting and treatment save lives.

If you observe any of these signs and symptoms, visit a healthcare facility for an accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Ensure you take extra precautionary measures while visiting to prevent the risk of spread.
#AntimicrobialResistance is when medicines like #antimalarials, tetracycline, septrin, and amoxicillin no longer treat diseases they cured previously.

Using antimicrobials "anyhow " is making the treatment of common infections more difficult.

Let us work together to save medicines.

Symptoms of #diphtheria include fever, runny nose, sore throat, cough, red eyes, swollen neck & in severe cases, a thick grey/white patch at the back of the throat with difficulty breathing

If you notice any of these symptoms, visit a health facility close to you for diagnosis & treatment
