The week of April 21st through April 27th is National Volunteer Recognition Week and this year we have approximately 4000 LASD Volunteers to thank in our Department!
The volunteers within our LASD family perform many diverse roles including; clergy members providing support during crises, front desk volunteers assisting the public at stations, clerical volunteers aiding in administrative tasks, patrol volunteers serving as additional eyes and ears in the community, mounted volunteers conducting observation patrols, search and rescue volunteers aiding in emergencies, mentor youths participating in law enforcement activities through the Explorer Program, and CERT certified volunteers responding to disasters.
To all the volunteers who generously give their time, energy, and heart to support Los Angeles County, we want to express a deeply heartfelt thank you.

He joined the Pasadena Police Academy in 1972 and served in law enforcement for 37 years.

Several dozen people with tents and signs occupied the lawn of the university's Decatur campus.
According to an article posted on Mondoweiss.net, the protest was against the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center and in support of the people in Palestine.
"Several dozen protesters trespassed into Emory Universityโs campus early Thursday morning and set up tents on the Quad. These individuals are not members of our community. They are activists attempting to disrupt our university as our students finish classes and prepare for finals. Emory does not tolerate vandalism or other criminal activity on campus. The Emory Police Department ordered the group to leave and contacted Atlanta Police for assistance."
