I'm not sure why he likes that movie. It's about a lonely person who falls in love with an AI who is simultaneously making thousands of other lonely men fall in love with her.

You would think that it would be the antithesis of what our goals with AI should be.
And yet Sam Altman reached out to Scarlet Johanson, the voice for the AI in the movie, to be the official voice of the new chatbot.
She declined, and probably because of her morals!
This didn't stop Sam.
He found a voice actress with the same voice and hired her!
Recently he released a Chat GPT update that shook the technology industry to the core.
His team was able to create a chatbot that can see your environment and interact with you in real time.
It can understand if you're wearing a silly hat and make a joke about it.
It can make seemingly intelligent inferences and carry on with you like an old pal....or a flirty girlfriend.
The charisma and lifelike warmth of the AI voice is unlike anything we've ever experienced.
It's MORE charming than a human! It makes you feel...loved.

She declined again.
Sam knew that people would notice that the voice for Chat GPT was the voice of "her".
He wanted to cover his tracks, but it was too late. He was moving forward.
On May 13th, he tweeted one word: her.

Sam Altman is unapologetically creating emotional surrogates for a lonely world.
I can't think of a way to control humans more than controlling our need to feel loved.
So even if AI doesn't evolve into an entity that can control humans, isn't it just as scary that Sam could?
