More information about the additional protection installed on the BMP-3.
The first picture shows elements of the 4S24 Karkas (4С24 "Каркас") installed on a BMP-2 and detonated during testing.
As we know, the 4C24 was designed at the turn of the millennium, and was accepted for service in the Russian armed forces in 2006, however, not for its intended purpose (to defend light vehicles) but to protect tanks (photo 2).
The 4С24 elements were designed specifically for light vehicles, as the installation of previous ERA elements on them was counterproductive, as shown in photo 3, the aftermath of the explosion of a Kontact-1 ERA block during system testing on the BMP-2 in 1988. The reactive explosion itself destroyed the armour and caused damage inside the vehicle.
Two solutions were found to remedy the situation:
1 - reduce the amount of explosive used.
2 - disperse the explosives using space and polymer foam.
These solutions make it possible to exclude destruction of the lightly armoured hull by dynamic protection elements, because the explosive plates are placed in the container between the layers of polymer foam; the latter provides smooth braking of metal plates scattered by detonation.
This solution additionally solves the issue of the integrity of the ERA containers located next to each other.
This solution results in a large size of the block, which makes it not possible to install it everywhere, but at the same time it covers a significant area. We can see inside the block in photo 4.

Test recording dating back to the summer of 2022, when this system was once again presented at the Army-2022 forum and this video was shot at the Alabino firing range. It was also taken to the forum in 2023, in the same year after the forum there was news that it would be put on light armoured vehicles.
It should be noted that this ERA was tested not only on the BMP-3, but even on the less armoured BMP-2, which allows to protect these vehicles from extremely widespread FPV-drones as well, since during the tests the dynamic protection for light armour was able to withstand hits of conventional RPG-7 ("РПГ-7") and SPG-9 ("СПГ-9") grenades without any problems. Protection against kinetic munitions and shrapnel has also been significantly increased.
In the video we se the 4C24 element manages to completely defocus the shaped jet of the P-7BC ("П-7ВС") rocket-propelled grenade with an armour penetration of about 400 mm.
At the same time, separate high-velocity fragments of the destroyed shaped charge jet formed several groups of craters on the surface of the covered armour plate with a depth of 2-5 mm.
Thus, the blocks placed on the side armour plates of BMP-3M hulls will provide proper protection against the widest range of shaped charges at heading angles of +/- 45 degrees.

The hulk of the first destroyed Italian Puma 6x6 wheeled armoured personnel carrier found near Belogorovka in the LPR.
Several hundred Pumas in 4x4 and 6x6 variants have been in service with the Italian army since 2001. They have light anti-bullet armour and are usually equipped with a 7.62 or 12.7 mm machine gun.
Interestingly, there has been no public information about deliveries of these APCs to Ukraine.

At the Algerian Army exercises, self-propelled anti-tank missile systems Kornet-EM on the chassis of special armoured vehicles VPK-233136 Tiger-M (ВПК-233136 «Тигр-М») were seen in operation.
Similar ATGM complexes "Kornet-D1" on the basis of VPK-233116 "Tiger-M" of the Russian Armed Forces have not been publicly seen in the SMO zone so far.

Although the numbers of this device were quite small (64 units confirmed bought in 2020, 37 more in 2021).
Although then I didn't know what protection it offered or its features, as it is a fairly new product, but now the information has started to appear more clearly.
An important detail of the armour kit is that it can be, and in fact is, applied to both the BMP-1 and BMP-2.
The kit first appeared in 2015, although it was not adopted until 2020. It consists of both grill armour and additional polymer.
The armour is significantly upgraded, and is now capable of supporting 12.7mm calibre armour piercing ammunition in the hull. In addition, the protection of the lower hull of the vehicle against mines with an explosive weight of up to 2.5kg.
- The kit also reduces the effect of the cumulative jet of HEAT charges.
- The buoyancy of the machine is preserved. The polymer panels have ‘positive buoyancy’. That is, after their installation, the amphibious capabilities of the vehicle remain at the same level.
- The additional armour shields are designed as hinged on-board protective elements, namely, fixed removable upper sections and hinged lower sections to allow maintenance of the undercarriage.
Characteristics:
total combat mass is increased around 1 tonne.
Hull side screens weight - 0.715 tonnes.
Weight of turret screens - 0.065 tonnes.
Weight of pallets - 0.150 tonnes.
Armour-piercing bullet Б-32 of 12.7 mm calibre has an impenetration distance of 150 m to the side projection

‘Bakhcha-U’ ("Бахча-У") is a Russian universal combat module (turret with weapons complex) created at the Tula Instrument Engineering Design Bureau. It is intended for installation on combat vehicles such as BMP-2, BMP-3, BTR-90, BMD-4, BMD-4M, as well as for boats, ships and stationary objects.
Module features:
Armament. 100mm gun 2A70, 30mm automatic cannon 2A72, 7.62mm PKT machine gun.
Fire control system. All-duty automatic.
Gunner's sight. With sight, thermal imaging, rangefinder channels and missile guidance channel.
Commander's panoramic sight. With television and rangefinder channels.
Coordinate measurement system. GPS/GLONASS, which provides accurate aim of the 100mm rounds from closed firing positions.
Weight: 3600-3980kg.
