"Tornado-S" defeated HIMARS on the Liman direction

Objective control of the defeat of the M142 launcher of the American high-altitude MLRS HIMARS by the Russian 300-mm guided rocket projectile 9M542/544 of the Tornado-S system from NPO Splav.

Attention may be drawn to the initiation of solid-fuel RDT charges of M30/31A1 GMLRS rockets and their random launch and chaotic dispersal in the target area after the defeat of the HIMARS.

We are at a very absurd point in history.
I have already spoken about this, but every time the Russians fucked a Western army, throughout the millennia and centuries, this did not really happen ... And it was the cold, or the mud, or the bushes, or that there were many more etc.
Well, in that line of thinking, every time Russia fucks a Western system ...
IT'S A DECOY!
And this HIMARS-decoy had a robotic human operating it I guess ...
In fact, Mariupol is a decoy city ...

It is worth noting that these strikes are interesting not even so much for the defeat of American MLRSs, but rather for the emerging integrated approach to their destruction within the framework of the reconnaissance and strike complex.

For almost two years of participation in combat operations, the M142 HIMARS has gained a reputation as an elusive MLRS, as this American unit has a number of advantages, one of which is batch reloading, as shown in the photo, the MLRS does not need its own transport and reloading vehicle, it reloads itself in a batch, which extremely speeds up the time for either the next strike or moving to cover for further action. The Ukrainian military has repeatedly noted in its reports that while the GMLRS guided rockets are just flying to the target, the M142 launcher is already leaving the position.

In the summer and autumn of 2022, such a highly mobile missile launcher was a real blow to the Russian army's hardened control and coordination system, where so much time can pass between the detection of a target and the coordination of a strike on it that the target is already gone. We have repeatedly written about this, and it was this Achilles heel of the Russian Armed Forces that gave HIMARS an unprecedented advantage.

However, as can be seen in two recent videos, the reconnaissance and strike system of the Russian army seems to have been noticeably transformed for the better: in both videos with the defeat of the installation, the time between the detection of the HIMARS and the missile strike is so short that it makes it possible to hit the target in position, which was not the case before.

What the new linkage is between the SuperCam UAV and the still-unknown air-launched missile systems is not yet known, but it works.

A strike on a russian S-300V/V4 battery with a HIMARS near Kalanchak in the Crimean operational area.
Details and countermeasures

To the great regret, the operational and tactical errors of the units of short, medium and long-range surface-to-air missile systems, as well as of the commanders of surface-to-air missile regiments and brigades during deployment in various operational directions are still not spared.

A strike on a russian S-300V/V4 battery with a HIMARS near Kalanchak in the Crimean operational area. Details and countermeasures To the great regret, the operational and tactical errors of the units of short, medium and long-range surface-to-air missile…
This video shows objective control of the enemy, filmed in TV-band by the optoelectronic module of the UAV "Leleka-100" or "Furia".
M31A1 GMLRS 227 mm guided rockets of the HIMARS system alternately engage 2 self-propelled 9A83/M4 launchers with 9M83MD ("9М83МД") anti-aircraft missiles (range 72 to 150 km), continuous-radiation illumination radar, and 1 launcher and loader with 9M82MD ("9М82МД") anti-aircraft missiles (range 100 or 380 km), as well as a 9S32/M4 ("9С32/М4") multi-channel missile guidance station and the 9S19/M4 "Imbir" (9С19/М4 "Имбирь") programme-sector surveillance radar.

But how was the enemy able to disable this S-300V4 battery?
After all, it is well known that the 6 channel 9S32/M4 Multi-Channel Missile Guidance Station in one battery is capable of easily issuing the control commands simultaneously to 6 parabolic illumination radars mounted on the 9A83 launchers. Moreover, the upgraded 9S19M4 "Imbir" programme-view radar (as well as the improved 9S32M4), which has a 2.5 fold increased power of the microwave klystron, which powers the transmitter of the radar, is capable of detecting GMLRS projectiles at a range of about 130 - 150 km. This means that a full 6-channel S-300V/B4 battery would have no problem repelling a salvo of 4 launchers of 142 HIMARS.

What could be the reason?

First of all, the reason is that only a "reduced" platoon of 2 self-propelled 9A83/M4 launchers with single-channel radar "searchlight" each and one 9A84/M4 "launcher-loader" without a radar were present.
And this is only two target channels and ammunition only of 10 anti-aircraft missiles.

Such incomplete equipment of the "battery" will not be enough to repel a strike of one HIMARS.

Moreover, the scarce S-300V4 division, deployed only 80 kilometres from the proposed HIMARS positions near Kherson, was not covered by a battery of Pantsir-S1 SAMs or at least a pair of 9A317M Buk systems.

Thirdly, deployment of such scarce systems as S-300B4 in the HIMARS range (less than 85 kilometres), and even with an understaffed battery in terms of ammunition and illumination radars on the launchers is absolutely unacceptable.

Let's assume that in this situation appropriate conclusions were made and the most serious operational, tactical and organisational measures will be taken.

A Lancet hit on the cockpit of a Mars-2 tracked MLRS. This vehicle is an analogue of HIMARS on a tracked chassis.
It can also launch ATACMS missiles.
So a very successful strike.

The video shows a successful hunt by the ZALA 421-16E HD - Lancet-3 reconnaissance and strike tandem UAV of a M270 MLRS mobile launcher that could launch 12 227mm M30/31 GMLRS guided rockets (or long-range two-stage GLSDB URS) or 2 MGM-140A/164 ATACMS Block I/2000 ballistic missiles at our rear logistics hubs.

The vehicle and crew were detected by a long-focus thermal imaging module integrated into the ZALA 421-16E HD multispectral optronic UAV system, followed by a strike by the Lancet-3.
